About
Open Doors Partners in Education provides free and reduced cost literacy support to students in Kent County and the surrounding community. In our tutoring sessions, we follow the Orton-Gillingham approach. The Orton-Gillingham approach has been recognized as an effective and evidence based literacy intervention since the mid-20th century. Our tutors are experienced teachers who have received over 60 hours of additional training in the Orton-Gillingham approach. We take a whole child approach to teaching reading and in our 1:1 and small group sessions, tutors are able to get to know students and build a strong foundation of trust. Private Orton-Gillingham tutoring generally comes at a steep cost, Open Doors Partners in Education makes it possible for more families in our community to have this support for their children.
